Behavior and Safety Expectations
A clear, consistent standard for every child in our care.
Kids Zone is a group child-watch environment. For everyone's safety, children must follow staff directions promptly.
Respect for Parenting Choices
We respect that families use different parenting approaches, including gentle or soft parenting. Kids Zone staff are not acting as parents, and our role is not to evaluate how any family parents at home. Our responsibility is to supervise all children in a busy, shared setting and to apply the same safety and behavior standards consistently.
What We Expect From Every Child
Follow Staff Instructions
Follow staff instructions promptly, especially directions involving safety.
Keep Bodies and Objects Safe
Keep hands, feet, bodies, and objects safe.
No Physical Aggression
No hitting, kicking, pushing, grabbing, throwing objects, or other physical aggression toward children, staff, or parents and guardians.
Respectful Words and Behavior
Use respectful words and behavior with children and staff.
Stay in Designated Areas
Stay within designated areas and follow Kids Zone rules.
Don't Disrupt Supervision
Participate without disrupting staff's ability to supervise the group.
How Staff Will Respond
Warning
Staff may give one or more clear warnings or redirects when appropriate. Warnings are not guaranteed.
Reset
Staff may use a brief, supervised time-out or removal from an activity.
Call Parent
If behavior continues, or safety requires it, the parent or guardian will be called to Kids Zone.
Pickup
The child must leave when staff determine supervision can no longer continue safely or effectively. Physical aggression may require immediate pickup.
Staff Discretion
Whether a warning is given, and how many, depends on the seriousness and immediacy of the behavior, the number of children in Kids Zone, current conditions in the room, and the child's specific behavior or ongoing issues.
Drop-Off and Pickup Are Included
Safety expectations remain in effect during every transition. Physical aggression toward another child, staff member, or a parent or guardian is not allowed, even when a child knows the visit is ending. If it occurs during drop-off or pickup, the child will begin the next Kids Zone visit with a brief, supervised time-out/reset. A parent or guardian must also respond promptly whenever pickup is requested.
An Important Distinction
Staff cannot provide unlimited time for a child to process, negotiate, or decide whether to follow a direction while supervising the group. A child who is unable or unwilling to follow instructions may not be able to remain in Kids Zone that day. This is not a judgment about the child or the parent; it is a safety and supervision decision.
By using Kids Zone, parents and guardians agree to support these expectations and respond promptly when contacted.
